NOTE: These themes currently only work with GNOME/GTK 3.4 and Unico 1.0.2. I plan to update them for GNOME/GTK 3.8 in the coming weeks (or however long it takes). Please be patient with me as there is a lot of work that will need to be done.

- Preliminary plans made to update themes for GNOME 3.8.

Changelog cropped due to excessive length.

There is also a theme available called Shiki-Brave Reloaded:

It seems that at least the GTK3 part differs from yours, although it does not work with GTK 3.8, too.

It would be different since the author of that theme probably used a different theme as a base to build from (or wrote it entirely from scratch, which honestly seems unlikely...)

The problem with that theme is that it also uses the Unico GTK3 engine in much the same way my themes did, and Unico no longer supports much of the CSS-based styling it had up to GTK3 version 3.4, before they stripped it for GTK3 version 3.6.

I'm still ultimately better off finding a currently up-to-date theme for GNOME and GTK3 version 3.8 that's not too dissimilar to the appearance of Shiki and modifying it until it resembles Shiki as closely as I can make it.

I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do yet but I'll probably end up starting with the GNOME Shell theme, as that should be the easiest thing to do, given that I can borrow the default GNOME Shell theme as a template and just modify everything to better fit the look of Shiki.

I do have every intention of reviving these themes again, but it will take some time...

please reconsider your intention to drop supporto to these themes.....
there are no other options for the shiki themes lovers :)

I have reconsidered it, however it will likely be some time before an update is released for GNOME 3.8. There is a fair amount of work that will be involved with bringing these up-to-date. I'll probably have to re-write the GNOME Shell themes from scratch (something that should not be too complicated), I plan to drop the Cinnamon themes altogether (I'm not interested in maintaining support for it anymore), and I plan to re-base the GTK3 themes on an already up-to-date GTK3 theme that's not-too-dissimilar to Shiki-Colors in appearance, which I can then modify as necessary and create new, better fitting image assets for.

I have to thank you for your amazing work!
I have been looking for this for sooo long…

Now my GTK2 and GTK3 apps look nearly indiscernable.

Your theme achieve to do what Zukitwo sadly failed to.

Have you thought about adding your work to openDesktop.org ?

PS : THANK YOU!!

The themes should be there already, linked to here. I had to link them to here because they exceeded the file size limit on the site.

Plus, these are old and no longer work with GNOME and GTK3 anyway, I stopped work on these after the update to 3.6 when everything changed too much for my themes to continue working as I intended.

(However, if you're still on GNOME and GTK3 version 3.4, these should still work nicely.)

I don't use Gnome, and I prefer to stick with GTK 3.4 with your theme rather than upgrading to GTK 3.8 and not being able to use it anymore ^^

Wow, really..?

I don't really think that's too good of an idea, to be honest. There will likely come a time when GTK-based apps are specifically coded to work with GTK3.8 or even newer, then my themes won't properly be able to style those applications, assuming the applications could even run on an out-dated version of GTK...

I may have to reconsider my decision to give up working on these themes after the GNOME 3.6 update broke things... I certainly wouldn't mind having these working again but it would take some time to hunt down all of the elements I would need to create image-based assets for, then to create all of those assets... Plus there's still the need to eventually make a proper Mutter window manager theme, though the old Metacity one does still work fine...

Hm... I'll have to look into this a bit over the weekend when I have some free time, there may be some hope in reviving these themes again some day.

If I managed to have you thinking again to work on your theme, my day is not lost!

I don't know under which license you published your work, but have you thought about open-source it so other people would be able to maintain it once you won't want to work on it anymore?

It is such a good looking theme that it would be a shame to lose it…

About applications builded to work with recent version of GTK3 only, I'm still able to recompile them with GTK 3.4 if it don't imply to lose essential functionalities.
Visual unity can come at a cost ^^

Y'know, I don't think I ever actually specified a license, though seeing as it's built off the old GTK 2 theme I suppose the license for that could also apply for these, until such time as I specify one myself.

That said, if anyone wanted to take these themes and modify them/help update them/whatever, I really wouldn't mind at all.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what I'll need to do to make these work with GNOME 3.8. I suspect I'll probably re-base the GTK3 part of the themes on an already working and hopefully not-too-dissimilar theme, and create better-fitting image assets and make any additional tweaks that may be necessary to make the theme match (as closely as possible) the GTK2 themes.
